ABOUT THE MAKER

Between the cities of Khenifra and Taza, deep in the Atlas Mountains, is where you will find the many astonishing variations of carpets known as “Beni” – an Arabic word meaning “son of” or people/tribe/kin. The Beni M’rirt tribe is known for using dark, bold colors and a double knot with a dense pile giving their rugs an elegant look and sumptuous feel. Woven strictly by women in motifs that represent fertility, strength, or a totem of protection, M’rirt rugs delight the senses and are a treasure to behold.

CARE

Avoid direct exposure to the sun. Natural raw wool may contain small fibers during weaving, which over time may rise to the surface. Vacuum for regular maintenance. Immediately remove spills by absorbing with a clean, light colored cloth. Stains can be cleaned gently with neutral soap. If the entire rug needs cleaning, use professional dry cleaning only.
